Tanager Open Data Competition

A public hyperspectral viewer for Planet Tanager mineral mapping

This project turns public Planet Tanager hyperspectral scenes into interpretable mineral mapping products using an open-source workflow based on Tetracorder and EMIT-SDS-L2B. The submission focuses on making hyperspectral data easier to explore through an interactive web app for scientific review and multisensor comparison.

Overview

The web viewer supports exploration of reflectance, mineral identification, and abundance outputs for public Tanager scenes, while also enabling comparison with NASA EMIT data over the same areas. The goal is to make open hyperspectral data more transparent, accessible, and useful for geologic interpretation and applied mineral mapping.
